Armed men shot and killed one person and wounded two others at a residence in Tijuana’s Colonia Michoacán on Thursday afternoon, according to local authorities.
The gunmen knocked on the door of a home on Calle Zamora before opening fire on the people inside. A man estimated to be about 50 years old was found dead at the scene. Two other men sustained gunshot wounds but were conscious when Red Cross paramedics arrived.
Victims Transported to Hospital in Stable Condition
Paramedics transported the two surviving victims to a local hospital, where both were reported in stable condition. Authorities have not released the identities of any of the three victims.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Investigators have not disclosed a possible motive for the attack, and details about the number of assailants or how they fled the scene remain limited.
Targeted Shootings Continue Across Tijuana
The attack follows a pattern of targeted shootings that have struck Tijuana neighborhoods in recent months. On May 30, an armed assault in Playas de Tijuana left four people dead and two wounded inside a residence. Earlier in June, four gunmen opened fire on a residential rehabilitation center in the city, killing one and injuring two.
Colonia Michoacán sits in the eastern part of Tijuana, away from the tourist corridor near the border crossing and Zona Río. The neighborhood is primarily residential, with a mix of small businesses and homes.
Tijuana recorded more than 1,400 homicides in 2024, making it one of the most violent cities in Mexico. The Baja California state government has deployed joint security operations with federal forces, but targeted attacks on homes and businesses have continued at a steady pace through the first half of 2025.
