A house and a parked vehicle were struck by multiple rounds of gunfire early Wednesday morning in Ejido Centenario, a residential community on the outskirts of La Paz in Baja California Sur. No one was injured in the shooting.
The incident was reported at 2:47 a.m. on June 17 through the C5 emergency coordination center after neighbors called in reports of shots fired. The targeted home sits at the corner of Emiliano Zapata and Aquiles Serdán streets in the heart of the small community, located roughly 10 kilometers west of downtown La Paz.
Police Secure Scene, Collect Ballistic Evidence
State Preventive Police and Municipal Public Safety officers were first to arrive and secured the perimeter. Criminal investigators from the Agencia Estatal de Investigación Criminal (AEIC), the state criminal investigation agency, later processed the scene.
Authorities confirmed that both the home and the vehicle sustained bullet impact damage. Forensic technicians collected ballistic evidence, including shell casings, which will be incorporated into a formal investigation file. No arrests have been made.
Attorney General’s Office Opens Investigation
The Baja California Sur Attorney General’s office (Fiscalía General del Estado) stated the investigation will proceed using technical, scientific, and legal criteria. Officials did not release information about a possible motive or suspects.
Ejido Centenario is a growing community popular with both local families and some foreign residents. It sits along the highway connecting La Paz to the Pacific coast beaches of El Centenario and El Comitán. The area has seen rapid residential development in recent years as La Paz expands westward.
No fatalities or injuries were reported, and authorities have not indicated whether the home was occupied at the time of the shooting. The investigation remains open.
The incident was first reported by Colectivo Pericú.
