An 18-year-old psychology student at CETYS Universidad in Tijuana has been missing since Monday afternoon, May 4, after she was last seen near a shopping plaza on the city’s east side. Her family fears she may be in danger.

Amelia Espinoza Manriquez left her classes at the CETYS campus in the El Lago neighborhood around 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Witnesses later placed her at a D’Volada café on Boulevard Lázaro Cárdenas around 5:00 p.m. that same day.

Last Seen Near Plaza Pacífico Before Disappearing

Her cell phone last pinged at approximately 9:00 p.m. near the Cinemex theater at Plaza Pacífico, located on Libramiento Rosas Magallón. Employees at the cinema told investigators they saw Espinoza Manriquez walking alone before a man and a woman approached her. No further sightings have been reported.

CETYS Universidad, formally known as the Centro de Enseñanza Técnica y Superior, is one of Baja California’s most prominent private universities. Founded in 1961, the institution operates campuses in Tijuana, Mexicali, and Ensenada. The Tijuana campus has been open since 1970 and sits in the El Lago area, a well-known residential and commercial zone in the eastern part of the city.

How to Report Information

Authorities are asking anyone with information about Espinoza Manriquez’s whereabouts to contact the FGE Tijuana directly at (664) 683-9643 or extensions 9 through 11. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the 089 tip line.

The seven-hour gap between her confirmed sighting at the café and her phone’s last signal near Plaza Pacífico, roughly five kilometers to the south, remains unexplained. The report of two unknown individuals approaching her at the cinema is the last known detail in the timeline.
