The Baja California Attorney General’s Office (FGE) activated an Amber Alert for a 13-year-old boy who has been missing from his Mexicali home since April 6. Jake Castillo Negrete was last seen at his residence in the Del Rastro neighborhood, and authorities say he may be a victim of a crime.

The FGE considers the boy vulnerable due to his age and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. As of April 11, he has been missing for five days.

Description of the Missing Boy

Authorities describe Castillo Negrete as light-skinned with light brown straight hair and light brown eyes. He stands 1.56 meters tall (about 5 feet 1 inch), has a slim build, prominent teeth, and freckles.

Anyone with information about Castillo Negrete’s whereabouts is urged to contact authorities immediately. The FGE has provided multiple reporting channels:

Mexico’s Amber Alert System

Mexico’s Alerta Amber system operates across all 32 states and coordinates with the United States and Canada on cross-border cases. The U.S. Department of Justice has worked with Mexican state coordinators to strengthen the program, which is designed to rapidly mobilize the public when a child goes missing under circumstances that suggest abduction or danger.

Del Rastro is a residential neighborhood in eastern Mexicali, located south of the city’s industrial corridor. Mexicali sits directly across the border from Calexico, California, making cross-border coordination a routine part of missing persons cases in the region.
