The Los Cabos municipal government began a two-day public works handover tour on Monday, April 7, delivering completed infrastructure projects across San José del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas, and the municipality’s northern delegations.
The XV Ayuntamiento, the current city council administration, is using the tour to formally inaugurate a package of road and recreation projects. Street paving in the La Ballena and Las Veredas neighborhoods of San José del Cabo is among the completed work, along with new road openings in Cabo San Lucas.
New Sports and Community Facilities
Two new public facilities are part of the handover. A multisports complex in Santa Anita, a fast-growing community located between San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas along the Transpeninsular Highway, will open to residents. A community development center in Colonia El Caribe, a working-class neighborhood in Cabo San Lucas, is also being inaugurated.
The tour extends into the municipality’s rural northern delegations as well. A new sports park in Caduaño, a small town roughly 45 minutes north of San José del Cabo on the road toward the Sierra de la Laguna, is included in the project package.
Road Improvements Target Residential Areas
The paving projects in La Ballena and Las Veredas address two neighborhoods that have grown rapidly in recent years. La Ballena sits on the northern edge of San José del Cabo and has seen significant residential development. Las Veredas is a residential area that has long dealt with unpaved streets. The municipality stated that the road improvements aim to boost property values and daily connectivity for residents in those areas.
The handover tour is a common practice for Mexican municipal administrations nearing the end of their three-year terms. The XV Ayuntamiento of Los Cabos is using the events to showcase completed public works before the next administration takes office.
