The Los Cabos municipal government has sent repair crews to restore public street lighting across nine neighborhoods in San José del Cabo. The work covers luminaire repairs and electrical fault corrections in colonias that rely on functioning lights for nighttime safety.

The nine neighborhoods receiving attention are Vista Hermosa, Ánimas Bajas, Las Veredas, Ánimas Altas, San José Viejo, Zacatal, Chulavista, Rosarito, and Buenos Aires. Several of these colonias sit along the main corridors leading into and out of San José del Cabo’s downtown core.

Repairs Driven by Resident Complaints

According to the municipality, the repairs respond to both an ongoing urban improvement program and direct citizen reports of outages. Crews are diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in existing luminaires rather than installing entirely new infrastructure.

Dark stretches of road have been a recurring concern in residential areas of San José del Cabo, where rapid population growth over the past decade has strained public services. Neighborhoods like Ánimas Bajas and Zacatal are home to a mix of long-term Mexican residents and a growing number of foreign homeowners.

How to Request a Repair

The municipality said it will continue prioritizing zones with the greatest operational need. Residents in both San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas can submit lighting repair requests directly to the local government. The announcement did not specify a phone number or website for requests, but Los Cabos typically accepts service reports through its municipal offices and social media channels.

The street lighting push comes as Los Cabos invests more broadly in urban upgrades. A separate plan to renovate downtown Cabo San Lucas, with early phases focusing on utility fixes, sidewalks, and lighting, is also in the works for late 2025.
