Property owners in La Paz who owe overdue predial (property tax) can now clear their balances at a steep discount. Municipal Treasurer Jassiel Enríquez announced a temporary program that cuts fines and surcharges by 50% for taxpayers who pay between May 15 and June 30.
The discount drops after that deadline. Payments made in July receive a 40% reduction on fines and surcharges, while August payments get 35%. The program also applies to residents who already have existing payment agreements and want to settle their remaining balances in full.
Where and How to Pay
La Paz is offering multiple payment options. Residents can pay in person at City Hall, at local delegations or subdelegations, or at multiservice kiosks that operate around the clock. The city has also set up mobile payment booths in various locations across town.
For those who prefer to pay from home, two digital options are available: the La Paz App and the Visor Urbano online portal. Both platforms are available in English, making the process straightforward for foreign property owners.
Installment Plans for Larger Balances
Taxpayers with overdue balances above 1,500 pesos (roughly $87 USD) can split their payments into three, six, or nine interest-free installments using participating credit cards. This option gives property owners flexibility to resolve delinquent accounts without paying everything at once.
La Paz has run similar discount campaigns in the past. In late 2024, the municipality offered a 50% reduction on fines during a two-week window in October, along with discounts on the predial itself. The current program is broader in scope, spanning three and a half months from mid-May through August with a graduated discount structure.
Why It Matters for Property Owners
Unpaid predial in Mexico can result in accumulating fines, interest charges, and potential complications when selling or transferring property ownership. Clearing overdue balances now, while the 50% discount is still active, represents the best savings available under this program.
The June 30 deadline is the key date. After that, the discount shrinks by 10 percentage points and continues to decrease each month. Property owners who want the maximum reduction should act within the next 30 days.
