Baja California Sur Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío has unveiled plans for a 35.3 million peso (approximately $1.7 million USD) inclusive children’s park on La Paz’s coastal malecón. Called “Todos a Bordo” (All Aboard), the facility is currently under construction and scheduled to open on November 27, 2026.

The Integral Port Administration of Baja California Sur (API-BCS) is overseeing the project, which will be built at the Malecon Pier along the city’s popular waterfront promenade. The park will accommodate more than 120 people at once.

Pirate Ship Centerpiece and Accessibility Features

A pirate ship attraction will serve as the park’s centerpiece. The structure will include accessibility accommodations allowing children with disabilities to reach the second level. Adapted walkways throughout the park will ensure universal access for visitors with mobility challenges.

The design includes a dedicated sensory space for children with autism spectrum disorder. A lactation room, restrooms, and showers will also be part of the facility. Palapas and shaded areas will provide relief from La Paz’s intense sun.

Additional Amenities Planned

Beyond the play structures, the park will feature an outdoor gym, boardwalks, and administrative offices. API-BCS has described the project as part of its commitment to developing accessible, safe, and functional public spaces in the state capital.

The malecón stretches along Paseo Álvaro Obregón in downtown La Paz, lined with restaurants, bars, and public sculptures along the Sea of Cortez waterfront. The promenade already includes some playground areas, but the Todos a Bordo park would be the first purpose-built inclusive recreation space on the waterfront.

La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur, sits about 900 miles south of the U.S. border on the Gulf of California coast. The city’s malecón is one of its most visited public spaces, drawing both locals and visitors for evening walks, dining, and waterfront events throughout the year.
