Mexico’s national housing fund INFONAVIT launched its Baja California Sur State Services Fair on Tuesday at Plaza León Cota Collins in Cabo San Lucas. The event offers free housing consultations, credit guidance, and personal account updates for formally employed workers in the Los Cabos area.

INFONAVIT, the Instituto del Fondo Nacional de la Vivienda para los Trabajadores, is Mexico’s federal housing finance agency. All formal employers in the country are required to contribute a percentage of each worker’s salary to the fund. Those contributions build over time and can be used toward home loans, housing subsidies, or home improvement credits.

What Services Are Available

At the fair, INFONAVIT representatives are on hand to help workers with a range of procedures that normally require appointments at regional offices. Services include credit consultations for prospective home buyers, updates to beneficiary information, and reviews of individual account balances.

Workers can also receive guidance on debt regularization, the Mejoravit home improvement program, and the Programa de Vivienda para el Bienestar. These programs provide financing options for workers who may not qualify for full mortgage credit but still want to invest in housing.

Why the Fair Matters for Los Cabos Workers

Baja California Sur’s geography makes in-person government services difficult to access. The nearest full INFONAVIT office in Cabo San Lucas is located on Boulevard Lázaro Cárdenas, but appointment wait times can stretch for weeks. The state capital, La Paz, is roughly two hours north by car. Fairs like this one bring agency staff directly to workers, cutting travel time and eliminating the usual scheduling process.

This is the second INFONAVIT fair held in Cabo San Lucas in recent weeks. On June 26, the agency hosted a similar Credit and Payment Solutions Fair at Plaza Gardenias II on Avenida Los Cabos. That event ran from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and focused specifically on credit options and debt resolution.

Workers with an active INFONAVIT account who want to check their balance, fix account discrepancies, or explore home loan options can visit the fair at Plaza León Cota Collins. No appointment is required. Attendees should bring a valid official ID and their CURP (Clave Única de Registro de Población) number.
