Baja California’s Caravanas de Salud (mobile health caravans) are offering free medical services in Vicente Guerrero, in the San Quintín municipality, from Tuesday, April 28 through Saturday, May 2. State Health Secretary Adrián Medina Amarillas announced the five-day clinic setup at Parque 13 de Mayo, located on Emiliano Zapata 97 in the heart of the delegation.

The mobile clinics provide preventive care and disease screening at no cost. Services are open to all residents of the area, which sits roughly 190 miles south of Tijuana along the Transpeninsular Highway (Highway 1).

Why Vicente Guerrero Needs Mobile Care

Vicente Guerrero is the largest town in the San Quintín Valley, a major agricultural zone that draws thousands of migrant farmworkers from southern Mexican states including Oaxaca, Michoacán, and Chiapas. Many workers and their families lack regular access to primary care. The nearest full-service hospitals are in Ensenada, about a two-hour drive north.

Health challenges in the valley are well documented. Chronic conditions tied to poor nutrition, including diabetes, hypertension, and obesity, affect a large share of the population. Some indigenous workers speak only their native languages and face language barriers when seeking medical attention.

Part of a Statewide Outreach Strategy

The Caravanas de Salud program is a Baja California state government initiative designed to bring basic health services directly to underserved communities. Rather than requiring residents to travel to urban clinics, the mobile units set up temporarily in public spaces like parks and community centers.

For English-speaking residents of the San Quintín Valley, the clinics may offer a convenient option for basic screenings. The program focuses on preventive care, meaning services such as blood pressure checks, glucose testing, and general wellness exams are typically available.

Location and Schedule

The clinics are operating daily through May 2 at Parque 13 de Mayo, on Emiliano Zapata 97 in the Vicente Guerrero delegation. No appointment is required. The state health ministry has not specified daily operating hours for this particular stop.
