Los Cabos municipal officials inspected street paving work on Calles La Candelaria and El Brinco in the Villas La Joya neighborhood of Cabo San Lucas on May 7, reviewing final details before the roads are officially handed over to residents.

Social Development Director Carlos Castro Ceseña led the supervision walkthrough. The visit confirmed the project is in its final phase, with the formal delivery to the community expected soon.

Federal Funds Behind the Project

The paving work is funded through FAIS, the federal Social Infrastructure Fund (Fondo de Aportaciones para la Infraestructura Social). FAIS is a federal program that channels money to municipalities specifically for infrastructure projects in underserved areas. The streets in Villas La Joya had previously been unpaved, limiting access and connectivity for residents.

Neighborhood construction committees are overseeing the work on the ground. Mayor Christian Agúndez Gómez established these committees to give residents a direct role in monitoring publicly funded projects in their communities. The committees verify construction quality and track progress before official handovers.

Part of a Broader Paving Push

The Villas La Joya project is one of several FAIS-funded paving efforts underway across multiple Cabo San Lucas neighborhoods. Municipal officials have said the program focuses on improving mobility and connectivity in colonias that have long lacked proper road surfaces. More project completions are expected in the coming weeks as work wraps up in other parts of the city.

Villas La Joya sits in the growing residential zone of Cabo San Lucas, where rapid population growth has outpaced basic infrastructure in many neighborhoods. Paved roads bring not only easier daily travel but also improved drainage and access for emergency vehicles.

The inspection and upcoming handover were first reported by the Los Cabos municipal government and covered by La Polaca BCS and Radar Político.
