Vehicle owners in Baja California Sur have until April 30 to pay their 2026 vehicle registration, known as the revista vehicular, without surcharges, interest, or fines. The state’s Secretaría de Finanzas y Administración (SFyAD) issued the reminder as the deadline approaches.

So far, the state has processed 88,386 registration transactions. Those payments have generated more than 86.4 million pesos (roughly $4.3 million USD) in revenue for BCS.

How and Where to Pay

Owners can complete the registration online at finanzas.bcs.gob.mx. For those who prefer to pay in person, the state operates 25 collection offices across Baja California Sur, including locations in La Paz, Los Cabos, Loreto, Comondú, and Mulegé.

The online option is available around the clock, so owners who wait until the final day can still complete the process digitally. No appointment is required for either method.

What Happens After April 30

Once the deadline passes, vehicle owners will face surcharges and interest on top of the base registration fee. The state has not announced a grace period or extension. In previous years, late penalties have added a meaningful percentage to the total cost, making it worth paying on time.

This registration applies specifically to vehicles with BCS plates. It is separate from the federal vehicle regularization program for so-called “chocolate” cars (foreign-plated vehicles imported without proper customs documentation). That federal program has its own deadline, currently extended to late 2026 under a separate federal decree.

Important Context for Expats

Expats and foreign residents who have legally imported and plated their vehicles in BCS must complete the revista vehicular like any other vehicle owner. Those still driving on foreign plates are not subject to this state registration but do need to maintain valid registration in their home jurisdiction.

The BCS government published the original announcement on its official website, bcs.gob.mx.
