Baja California’s Health Secretary Adrián Medina Amarillas announced that state mobile health caravans will operate in two remote communities near Ensenada from June 2 through June 6. The free mobile health clinics will set up in the Real del Castillo delegation east of Ensenada and the Camalú delegation in the San Quintín municipality.

The caravans provide no-cost medical consultations and basic health services to residents who have limited access to permanent healthcare facilities. Both locations are in areas where clinics and hospitals are scarce, making routine medical care difficult to obtain.

Where the Clinics Will Be

Real del Castillo sits roughly 35 kilometers east of downtown Ensenada, in the foothills along the road toward the Sierra de Juárez. The area is sparsely populated and lacks a full-service clinic. Residents there typically must travel into Ensenada proper for medical attention.

Camalú, located about 280 kilometers south of Ensenada along the Transpeninsular Highway (Highway 1), is a small agricultural town in the San Quintín valley. The San Quintín corridor is home to thousands of farmworkers and their families, many of whom live far from the nearest hospital. The closest major medical facility is in Ensenada itself, a drive of roughly three hours.

What Services Are Available

The state’s mobile health units generally offer primary care consultations, preventive screenings, and basic medications. The services are free and open to all residents, with no insurance or identification requirements specified in the announcement. The units are part of Baja California’s broader effort to extend healthcare coverage to its most isolated communities.

For English-speaking residents in the Ensenada region or the San Quintín valley, the caravans represent one of the few government health resources that reach these outlying areas on a scheduled basis. Anyone in the Real del Castillo or Camalú delegations during the first week of June can visit the mobile units at the local Municipal Delegation offices.
