Authorities discovered six human remains in five clandestine graves in Comondú municipality, Baja California Sur, following an anonymous tip on March 5. Two victims were identified through forensic testing: Rigoberto Álvarez Amador, 43, and Raúl Zamarrón García. The site lay in scrubland along isolated dirt roads near the La Paz-San Juan de la Costa highway. Local search collective Búsqueda x La Paz expressed concern that more graves may exist in the remote area.

The discovery underscores a critical gap between official government safety narratives and ground reality for expat and tourist communities. Search leaders allege authorities downplay disappearances to protect tourism image, while reporting that forced disappearances are accelerating monthly. The collective has documented 96 sets of remains in recent La Paz grave discoveries and notes an alarming pattern: young people from Sinaloa and Guerrero lured to Los Cabos with false tourism-sector job offers, then vanishing. This directly affects expat security awareness and tourist safety perceptions in popular destinations like Los Cabos.
