Tijuana’s Municipal Institute for Youth, known as IMJUV, has launched a free three-month workshop program called “Un Buen Taller,” drawing nearly 700 registrations from young people between the ages of 12 and 29, according to La Jornada Baja California.

The program offers 10 courses covering a wide range of skills: English, Japanese, and Italian language instruction, pastry arts, fashion, creative writing, rap, computer basics, balloon art, and drawing. Classes began March 17 at the Espacio Utópico Juvenil, a municipal youth facility in Tijuana.

The strong registration numbers prompted organizers to announce plans to expand the program, adding more workshops and additional time slots to meet demand. No cost is involved for participants at any stage of enrollment.

For families living in Tijuana, including expat households with teenagers or young adults, the program offers a practical entry point into language and professional skills without the cost of private instruction. IMJUV says the initiative reflects a broader push by the municipal government to invest in youth development and expand social services for residents.
