The Los Cabos municipal government will cut the ribbon on Baja California Sur’s first free youth recording studio on Monday, May 19 at noon. The studio is located at the INJUVE offices on Calle Neru in the Lomas de Guaymitas neighborhood of San José del Cabo.
Mayor Christian Agúndez Gómez announced the project through the Instituto de la Juventud del Municipio de Los Cabos (INJUVE), the city’s municipal youth institute. The facility will give young residents free access to professional recording equipment for music projects and creative content.
Rapper Alemán Headlines Inauguration Event
Mexican rapper Alemán, one of the country’s best-known hip-hop artists, will attend the inauguration as guest of honor. Local performers Choye Rap, Cecilia Miranda, and Clan del Rap Baja Sur will also perform at the public event.
Carolina Carachuri, head of the municipal youth directorate, said the studio will be open to artists of any genre. Young musicians will be able to record their music at no cost, with the goal of developing talent that can represent Los Cabos and Baja California Sur on a broader stage.
Professional Equipment at No Cost
The studio was built to support local creativity and artistic development among young people in the municipality. According to the city government, the space includes equipment for recording, editing, and producing audio content. The city described the project as part of its commitment to creating safe, creative spaces for youth.
Los Cabos is not new to the idea of recording studios with a community mission. Hotel El Ganzo in the San José del Cabo hotel corridor has long operated an underground recording studio that hosts visiting musicians. The Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos offers a guest-facing Music Lab as part of its all-inclusive package. But the INJUVE studio is the first government-run facility in the state dedicated to giving young local residents studio access for free.
How to Attend
The inauguration event on May 19 starts at noon and is open to the public. The INJUVE offices are on Calle Neru in the Lomas de Guaymitas colonia, located on the north side of San José del Cabo, roughly a 10-minute drive from the downtown area.
