The Baja California Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has issued a public appeal to help locate María Guadalupe Meléndez Márquez, a 35-year-old woman last seen on May 8 in Ensenada’s Colonia 17 de Abril neighborhood.
Meléndez Márquez was wearing gray sweatpants, a gray hoodie, and carrying a black backpack when she was last seen. Authorities described her as slim, approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall (1.60 meters), with dark brown hair that has a reddish tone and brown eyes.
Distinctive Physical Features
The FGE noted two identifying characteristics that could help the public recognize Meléndez Márquez. She has a visible scar on her chest from open-heart surgery. She also walks with a slight stoop.
Colonia 17 de Abril is a residential neighborhood on the eastern side of Ensenada, roughly 10 minutes inland from the city’s downtown tourist corridor. The area sits along one of the main routes connecting the port city’s central zone with neighborhoods farther east.
How to Report Information
Anyone with information about Meléndez Márquez’s whereabouts can contact the FGE at (646) 152-2500. The agency’s Missing Persons Search Unit in Ensenada can also be reached at extensions 2559 and 2560.
The FGE regularly issues these public alerts and has relied on community tips to resolve missing persons cases across Baja California. In April alone, the agency published a separate alert seeking help locating a mother and her children who had been missing from Ensenada’s Colonia Ignacio Allende since January 2026.
Baja California has seen a steady volume of missing persons cases in recent years. The FGE’s search units operate in each of the state’s major municipalities, including Tijuana, Mexicali, and Ensenada, processing reports and coordinating with local police and federal authorities.
