Baja California’s mobile health units will set up in San Quintín this week, offering free medical services from Monday through Friday. The Caravanas de Salud program will operate at the kiosk in the Lomas de San Ramón neighborhood from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, May 12 through May 16.

State Health Secretary Adrián Medina Amarillas announced the deployment, which targets one of the Ensenada municipality’s most underserved communities. The clinics will provide comprehensive medical exams and preventive care at no cost.

What Services Are Available

The Caravanas de Salud (Health Caravans) program sends mobile medical units to remote and vulnerable areas across Baja California. The units typically offer general consultations, preventive screenings, dental care, and basic laboratory services. No appointment is needed, and all services are free.

San Quintín sits roughly 185 miles south of Tijuana along the Transpeninsular Highway. The agricultural valley is home to tens of thousands of farmworkers and their families, many of whom lack regular access to healthcare. The nearest major hospital is in Ensenada, about a two-hour drive north.

Part of a Rotating Statewide Program

The mobile clinics rotate through underserved zones across the state on a regular schedule. The previous week, from May 5 through May 9, the Caravanas units operated in Mexicali, Ensenada, and San Quintín, according to California Medios. This week’s deployment concentrates resources on the Lomas de San Ramón neighborhood specifically.

For anyone living in or passing through the San Quintín Valley, the five-day window is a practical opportunity for a checkup without the long trip north to Ensenada. The clinics open early at 7 a.m. and run until 4 p.m., accommodating working schedules.

Residents who need ongoing treatment should ask clinic staff about the next scheduled visit, as the program returns to different locations throughout the year. The announcement was first reported by Ensenada.net.
